Today, Rotary’s number-one priority is Polio Eradication.. Currently, there is only 2,000 cases in the world. These cases are found in 4 countries: India, Afghanistan, Nigeria & Pakistan. There are still obstacles to overcome—especially in Nigeria. We have made a lot of progress over the last few years.

Dictionary for all 3rd Graders One of the first service projects was to provide standard dictionaries and other reference works in the classrooms of the local schools. Recently, the club has revived that project by joining forces with other area Rotary Clubs to distribute dictionaries to all third graders in Randolph County.

The goal of Stop Hunger Now (SHN) is to end hunger on planet earth in our lifetime. Through SHN’s Operation Sharehouse, healthy meals (in dry form) are prepared by volunteers and shipped to places with great human need – places such as Haiti and El Salvador. To ensure that the meals reach their destination, the sites are monitored with photographs at each step along the way.
Visit the Stop Hunger Now website to see how you can help!

Our club scholarship program is a reflection of the importance we have always placed in helping local students to further their education beyond high school. Over the last 20 years our club has awarded over $100,000.00 in scholarship money to graduating seniors at Asheboro High School, Randleman High School and Southwestern Randolph High School. We also award a scholarship each year to a second year degree student at Randolph Community College that pays for their tuition for two semesters of full time study.
Each week, a part of your club dues are directed to our Educational Foundation of the Asheboro Rotary Club. This has allowed us to award $7,600.00 in scholarship money during the 2008 - 2009 Rotary year.
The scholarship selection criteria includes: 1) Academic Achievement 2) Community Involement and Leadership 3) Financial Need.
Our club Scholarship Committee is assisted in the selection process by the senior guidance counselors at the respective high schools and the RCC Foundation. Our scholarships are open to any applicant regardless of gender, race or religion. |

Foremost in the list of projects sponsored by the club is the Crippled Children’s Clinic which began during the Rotary year 1934-35 and remained active until 1974. Over this long period of time, the club paid the expenses of the Clinic, covering the cost of X-rays, braces, casts, corrective appliances, special shoes and medicines. |

Each week our clubs donates a back pack to the BackPack Pals Program in honor of that week's speaker.
AHS Interact Club decided to put together back packs for the long Easter weekend, to ensure these kids had enough food to last the weekend. They have estimated the food donations to be @ $720 and with the cash donations of $320, that's a grand total of $1,040. What an awesome job!
A special thank you to all those who contributed food & money for this project. |
